September recap

I really need to get better with recaps. I do them only sporadically, when I’m reminded that hey, they are kind of a good idea. And then I forget to do it one month, and the whole thing goes to pot.

Maybe I should make a resolution for next year…

Anyway, September wasn’t a bad month, review-wise. Here’s what I read and reviewed:

The Serpent Sea, by Martha Wells
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, by Catherynne M Valente
Blackwood, by Gwenda Bond
Wild Seed, by Octavia E Butler

Also, as part of my ongoing Warriors Wednesday feature, I also reviewed the following Warriors books:

Dawn, by Erin Hunter
Starlight, by Erin Hunter
Twilight, by Erin Hunter

I also got the chance to interview Gwenda Bond, as well as read her debut novel from Strange Chemistry.

October’s plans

So what’s on the planner for next month? Well, for one thing, I’m getting back to the Great Valdemar Reread by reviewing the last two books of the Owls trilogy, Owlsight and Owlknight. I’ll also be review Cassandra Rose Clarke’s The Assassin’s Curse, taking on an interesting new anthology called Diverse Energies, and revisiting post-apocalyptic American with Mike Mullin’s Ashen Winter. I’ll also be finishing up the last book of the second Warriors series, then taking a short break from Warriors Wednesday before diving back in the the first book of the third series. All in all, a review-happy month is coming up.

How did September go for you? Any big bloggy plans coming up for October that you want to share?

  1. Oh, you’ll love The Assassin’s Curse, I think! I’m hoping to have my reviewup later today. Funny that you mention getting back to the Owls trilogy, as my babybrother mentioned this weekend that he still considers that his gateway into ‘grown up’ fantasy and one of his favourite series ever. Yes, I got him at an early age ;-)
